Love Is Only Temporary

You can push as far as you wish

But in your heart you know well that this

is only for a moment

He can kiss you and say he’ll be there

But in time there will be a time that he won’t care

about what you had

I used to believe that I could make this last

But I know more than ever that the past

is what I’ll become

I’m not sure why this bothers me so

But I won’t lie to myself and say he doesn’t know

that he hurts me

I know when it happens I’ll be annihilated

but I have more pressing things to dread

than our love

because I know love is only temporary

it doesn’t quite seem as scary

as loving him forever

She puts on a brave face

Speaks some pretty words

But on the inside she's dying

A fate that wasn't meant for her

The pain keeps her up at night

Ringing in her ears

But letting go of all of that

Would mean facing her deepest fear

She made the mistake of trusting before

And it nearly wiped her out

Now she waits for next catastrophe

That will try and take her out

She imagines it from time to time

And wonders if it will hurt

She thinks about if they will miss her

Once they cover her with dirt

She wants to run away

Before she gets the urge to try

To end her  life so simple and quick

They don't have time to ask why
